Job Description:
This position will oversee independent credit risk management for counterparty and country risk issues, globally. The incumbent will report to the Head of the Credit Policy Department in the Corporate Risk Management Business Unit.
In addition, this individual will be responsible for the following strategic imperatives:
1. Assess regulatory changes impacting counterparty/country risk and drive resultant process changes. Includes Dodd-Frank, Basel III and relevant Interagency Guidance on counterparty credit risk and country risk.
2. Enhance risk management processes for global cash movement activities (credit, balance sheet and liquidity).
3. Assess country risk process and resource needs in relation to business imperatives and international economic research approaches.
4. Assess options for balance sheet credit risk diversification. Includes Money Market Deposit and Treasury portfolios.
5. Determine regional credit risk staffing needs. Includes policy making, credit decisioning and business unit regional risk management involvement.
6. Work with Corporate and Institutional Business Unit and Global Foreign Exchange to refine risk controls relating to Third Party FX, including policies and procedures relating to unregulated funds.
Knowlege & Skills:
Leadership and organizational skills are required to direct the activities for Global Counterparty & Country Risk Management?s multiple units.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
International financial institution and geopolitical awareness/interest.
Knowledge of counterparty credit risk products, including legal framework, especially for FX, interest rate derivatives and indemnified securities lending.
International/Counterparty experience is strongly preferred.
Global regulatory knowledge preferred.
Custody/Asset Servicing knowledge (including legal framework) preferred.
International money market and capital markets knowledge preferred.
Major Duties:
Independent oversight of counterparty and Global Financial Institutions (including Guernsey) credit approval process, including credit risk rating assignments.
Oversight of Country Risk assessment process, including country ratings, limits, analysis and sovereign borrower rating assignments.
Oversight of subcustodian risk management.
Independent oversight of credit risk for Foreign Exchange and Securities Lending products including FX and interest rate derivatives EAD and related models.
Subject matter expert (internally and with regulatory bodies) for credit aspects of counterparty and country exposures. Includes regular senior level (Board and/or Management Group) communication role.
Engagement with Market and Liquidity and Product risk governance.
Leadership/oversight of systems and related capital spending supporting counterparty and risk areas of responsibility.
Shared ownership of non-U.S. ICAAP credit risk-related activities and Pillar II capital models.
Experience:
15+ years of relevant banking and/or counterparty experience
