Group sends Christmas trees to troops

Each year the Ohio Christmas Tree Association sponsors Operation Evergreen?a program which provides American troops overseas the chance to celebrate Christmas with real Ohio-grown Christmas trees.

The annual event took place on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Ohio Department of Agriculture?s Reynoldsburg campus.

More than 100 trees were donated by various Ohio Christmas tree growers, inspected, and then sent to soldiers serving in Kuwait.

Local schools, churches and veterans? groups also donated decorations for the trees.

?Hopefully the trees can bring a little bit of home to our troops who will be spending the holidays away from their families,? said Amy Galehouse, Operation Evergreen Coordinator with the OCTA in a press release.

Operation Evergreen has delivered Christmas trees to troops stationed overseas since 1995.
