Millionaires More Keen on Real Estate Investing | Millionaire Corner

Millionaires express a growing interest in real estate investing. Learn more about the trend.

Millionaires are less likely to hold assets in cash, but express a growing interest in real estate investing over the next month, according to the latest Millionaire Corner research on the investment preferences of affluent Americans.

Interest in real estate investing has shown a steady upward trend since the beginning of the year, according to our research.? More than one-fourth of affluent investors polled in November indicated an interest in real estate investing, compared to less than 10 percent in January of this year.

Improving market trends and prevailing low interest rates appear to be bolstering the appeal of real estate investing among affluent investors, who traditionally use property as a means to build and consolidate wealth. ?Rental income is one of the top three sources of revenue for ultra-wealthy investors with a net worth of $25 million or more.? These affluent investors receive an average of $1.2 million a year from rental properties, according to our $25 Million Plus Investor 2012.

Interest in commercial real estate investing is at record levels, according to data from National Real Estate Investor (NREI). At the end of the third quarter, the NREI?s Investor Sentiment Index ?stood at 171 points, the highest level since NREI began tracking investor attitudes toward real estate investing in 2004.

?As investor confidence in the commercial real estate recovery grows, buyers appear ready to start an aggressive strategy with a bigger appetite for commercial real estate and more tolerance for risk,? the NREI stated in its Third Quarter 2012 Commercial Real Estate Investment Outlook. The report found that 75 percent of investors agree commercial real estate has greater potential than other types of investments. Only 8 percent of respondents believe the stock market would offer better returns than commercial real estate.

Roughly half the investors believe the commercial sector has hit bottom, according to NREI, which also found that low borrowing rates and increased access to credit is fueling the increased interest in commercial real estate investing.?
