?If there were no schools to take the children away from home part of the time, the insane asylums would be filled with mothers.? ??Edgar W. Howe..?I told you guys about our latest back to school stock up shopping trip ? where I bought enough extra goodies to put together great school supply baskets to donate to the boys new teachers this year as aprt of the #BagitForward?campaign I?m proud to be a part of. I loved hearing from you guys that you want to jump on board and do this too! So ? I have a new tip for saving BIG bucks on school supplies during these last days before the new school year starts ? Dollar General! And, I think it?s super important to buy more supplies than just what?s on the kids? school lists ? keep reading to learn why.
Back to School Savings with Dollar General
I didn?t even think to shop for school gear at the dollar store ? which is surprising. I mean, I stock up on cleaning products, snack foods, and all of my gift wrap and party supplies there. But it just wasn?t on my radar for school supplies? Until I visited this week to grab more paper products to stock my gift wrap cubby, and saw the huge selection. What?s even better is that you can grab even MORE sweet savings by scanning their new QR Code ? or just texting the message ?bts? to 34898. How cool is that, right?
My Savings Tips for Back to School?
Since you can get such sweet deals here, you can totally afford to stock up. But even at low prices, you want to make sure you?re getting the best value, and will truly use what you?re buying. So here are a few of my best tips for shopping at Dollar General for back to school:
- Put together your own #BagitForward donation gift for a teacher, organization, or child in need. Teachers have a hard job, and spend a ton of their own money on classroom supplies to help our kids succeed. I made a BIG donation basket for each of the kids? teachers this year, so they can have a few fun goodies for themselves, and have extra supplies for the kids who?s parents couldn?t afford it. I?d love for you to join this mission too.
- Encourage learning at home too. It?s so important that learning is NOT just in the classroom ? stock up on fun craft supplies to create new things at home, pick up fun things like bug catchers or compasses for outdoor exploration, and have a big selection of books to encourage reading at home too.
- Make a ?going away? basket for a student who?s college bound ? Grab a great storage caddy, and fill it with some supplies like pens and paper, as well as necessities like toothpaste, band-aids, shampoo, and snack foods for late study nights. {Don?t forget to include a roll of quarters to use in vending machines or laundry rooms. Much appreciated!}
- Get supplies to help you manage your busy household in the new school year. Binders and dividers help you build a household binder to keep things organized. New white boards, storage containers, and drawer dividers can help you create a homework station. Pretty much anything you need to stay organized without spending a ton can be found here!
So, since I was so impressed with all the great goodies I found in the amazing back to school selection at Dollar General this week, I figured I should share some ideas with ya?all ? and let you know about the sweet QR Code to get additional coupons too. Awesomesauce.
